The team behind Freep Film Festival is now producing “The Documentary Podcast.” Its premiere episode is loaded with timely interviews focused on some of cinema’s most-buzzed-about docs:
■ “The Case Against 8” filmmakers Ben Cotner and Ryan White talk about trimming some 600 hours of footage into the story of the legal battle against California’s ban on same-sex marriage — a fight that went all the way to the Supreme Court. The movie gets its broadcast debut at 9 p.m Monday, June 23, on HBO.
■ Director Brian Knappenberger’s “The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz,” tells the tale of computer prodigy and social activist Swartz, who committed suicide following a federal prosecution for Internet-related crimes. It arrives Friday, June 27 on video on demand and in some theaters.
■ The new season of PBS documentary series “POV” kicks off Monday, June 23, and Chris White, the show’s vice president of programming and production, has the lowdown.
