11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sun., Sept. 26, the Film Lab, Hamtramck. Free. Registration required here.
This free event at the Film Lab is aimed toward filmmakers – especially those who may be considering a crowdfunding campaign for their films.
Seed&Spark is a crowdfunding platform that specializes in working with filmmakers and other storytellers. It is the primary driver of this event, which will have three elements:
- Crowdfunding to Build Independence: Most people think about crowdfunding simply as a fundraising tool, but Seed&Spark is going to show you how it’s so much more than that. Discover how to have a successful crowdfunding campaign… and career! You’ll learn how to find your audience, structure your crowdfunding campaign, pick the right goal and incentives, and more. Bri Castellini, Seed&Spark’s film community manager, will lead this session.
- Crowdfunding Rally: Freep Film Festival partnered with Hell’s Half Mile Film and Music Festival in Bay City and Seed&Spark to create a Crowdfunding Rally. Two Michigan-based filmmakers will deliver short pitches on their upcoming documentaries – and then kick off a campaign with Seed&Spark that will receive initial funding from Freep Film Festival. This is a great opportunity to support other filmmakers and experience a live pitching session.
- Networking and socializing: Hang out at the Film Lab for informal networking, including light complimentary refreshments provided Freep Film Festival. The Film Lab’s bar will also be open for purchases.
