About the film

The influential mockumentary classic takes things to 11 for a special 35th anniversary screening. David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, Derek Smalls and a series of ill-fated drummers make bad music and even worse choices in this hilarious takedown of rock ‘n’ roll excess and intra-band squabbling. With spot-on musical parodies like “Stonehenge,” “Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight” and “Big Bottom” and largely improvised dialogue that simultaneously captures the humanity, hubris and stupidity of music stardom, the film set the stage for Christopher Guest-led mockumentaries like “Best in Show” and “Waiting for Guffman” and TV hits like “The Office.”
