Film fests around the country join for ‘Unapologetic’ screening

On Saturday, Jan. 16, audiences across North America will gather virtually for a virtual screening of the documentary “Unapologetic.”

Told through the lens of Black millennial organizers Janaé and Bella, two fierce Chicago abolitionist leaders , “Unapologetic” is a deep look into the Movement for Black Lives, from the police killing of Rekia Boyd to the election of Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

The film was slated to be part of the 2020 Freep Film Festival before the pandemic altered plans. Please join us on Film Festival Day in a celebration of the communities, audiences and independent filmmakers who make the film festival experience so unique. The film is on sale now and available for viewing anytime Friday and Saturday.

Everyone who purchases a ticket to the film also will receive a link to a live conversation with director Ashley O’Shay and the film’s subjects happening on Saturday.
