About this film

Thirteen Detroit filmmakers collaborate with the 2023 Kresge Artist Fellows in Literary and Visual Arts to create 19 dynamic short films exploring the artists’ creative practices, expressions and journeys as artists and humans. The series culminates with a vignette of 2024 Kresge Eminent Artist, Nora Chapa Mendoza.

The artists profiled: 2023 Visual Arts Fellows: Rory Scott, multi-disciplinary artist; Halima Afi Cassells, muralist; Venusloc, video artist; Miranda Kyle, painter; Rita Dickerson, painter; Mario Moore, painter; Jessica Frelinghuysen, performance artist, Francis Vallejo, painter/comic, Robert Schefman, painter, Tony Whitfield, multimedia artist; Lauren Kalman, potter; Erin K. Schmidt, book artist; Austen Brantley, sculptor; and Elton Monroy Duran, muralist. 2023 Literary Arts Fellows: Edward Salem, writer; Gail Parrish, playwright; Morgan Mann Willis, writer; James Fuson, poet; and Claire Gasamagera, writer. 2024 Kresge Eminent Artist Nora Chapa Mendoza, painter.
